After a brief hiatus, we return with another installment of battles of the week, which will now be called battles of the month. Better battles for you + less work for us = everybody wins.

OGMIOS VS MATTER

This is the kind of battle that Don’t Flop does better than anyone else in the game. The clash, between two of the most cerebral MCs out right now, is a highlight reel of creative angles, comedy and lyrical dynamism.

THE SAURUS VS THE DEADMAN

The Saurus continues his streak of amazing performances in this battle against rising West Coast star The Deadman. This matchup has tons of playback value, with both battlers hitting with punch after punch. Check out our interview with Deadman for his thoughts on this battle and the rest of the Takeover event.

ILL WILL VS DANJA ZONE

This battle was the first release from BET’s Ultimate Freestyle Friday, which is pitting URL talent against each other for mainstream TV viewers. Both MCs are animated and bring heavy material, making it a great introduction for a new audience, as long as that audience can figure out what the hell these guys are talking about.

HOLLOW DA DON VS TSU SURF

Sure it’s bloated and 95 per cent of the hot lines were spoiled with people tweeting on the night of the event, but what makes this battle a classic is how endlessly debatable it is. Everyone had an opinion on it, and thoughts on who won ran the whole spectrum from Surf 3-0 to Hollow 3-0. When Kevin Durant and Drake are arguing about a battle over Twitter, you’ve clearly done something right.

CITYY TOWERS VS MY BLOCK BEZI

With $2,000 on the line, these MCs show how much of an incentive cash prizes can be. Cityy Towers brings absolute fire to this battle and demonstrates why he’s one of our favourite up-and-comers. Next up he’s got Daylyt, but we still think him and Luciano Crakk would put on a classic.
